Cooper Union.

{I have decided that the new Cooper Union Academic Building is awesome. I wanted to hate it, but somehow it swayed me. It's no Gherkin, but it's kind of rad anyway}

{Spent another evening in a New York ER last night. Seriously, what's the matter with me? This time it was Brooklyn Methodist. Highly recommended. No, seriously.}

Sweet Teeth.

So in keeping the good music posting going, a buddy of mine Brett Nelson has been working on a music project of his for a little while now. It's some good southern boy listening. Legit. So anyway, he sent me a few songs he's been working on recently and I figured they should be passed on to those who might be interested.

Show him some love HERE.

Sweet Tooth Nelson - "A Dream About Robbing a Bank With My Dream Girl"

Sweet Tooth Nelson - "Heaven"

Sweet Tooth Nelson - "Honest"

{The above photos were all sent aong with the songs in emails from Brett. Make of them, and his mind, what you will. Good shit}.

P.S. Dude can take a mean PHOTOGRAPH too.

B.C.

Bill Callahan - Live @ Music Hall of Williamsburg. June 14th 2009. from Julien Strangler on Vimeo.

"Bury Me In Other Things... and I'm Gonna Do Other Things"

So good. As Always. Probably the best person to see live. The right mix of sounding as good, if not better than on record, and mixing things up to make them sound different and interesting. His band were awesome too.

Anyway, the photos above came from HERE via HERE, and the video I shot on the new Birthday Digi Cam.

{PS. It was my birthday yesterday and we got two lots of great news. Ask me about it if and when you see me}

ELVIS.

Looks great, but like a lot of things from Japan, not yet available over here. I'm going to go talk to Dashwood and recommend they make a few inquiries... I plan to keep an eye on THIS SMALL PRESS.

AJIT CHAUHAN .

Ajit Chauhan.
RERECORD
At the JACK HANLEY GALLERY.
June 20 - July 31, 2009

- Opening Reception: Saturday, June 20, 6-9pm-

This will honestly be amazing. I went to his last show there, and it blew my mind. Super rad, super delicate and fine detail pencil and ink drawings. One of my favourite shows I've been to.

Here's the run down for this new show:

"Jack Hanley Gallery is pleased to present the second solo show installation by Ajit Chauhan in NYC at the Watts Street space, opening Saturday, June 20th 2009 and continuing until July 31st. As the artist describes this body of work, "ReRecord" is an attempt at subverting perception. Encompassing hundreds of erased record(album) covers with all the associations of the bands and singers they promoted, these 'take-away drawings" deconstruct the figure. The figurative is rendered abstract; sometimes sexless or genderless at times an isolated limb or mouth. They is a kind of exploration into anonymity and a sculptural aspect to the sanded flat works. The faces are a way of ordering things using found "street or skate" type common objects.

Additional sculptures, "The Psuedoscopes" are a grouping of mirrors that transfer your left eye information into your right eye & your right eye information into your left. They create illusions such as movement in static objects, convex becomes concave, things pointing toward you may look like they are pointing away & vice versa. It undermines and confuses the apparent or existing state of things. Boxes lined with mirrors that started as infinity boxes or open kaleidoscopes are stripped back down to simply boxes lined with mirrors, an homage to "Gleaming the Cube"."

See? How rad does that sound?

FINALLY.

{So they finally arrived yesterday. Well worth the wait and the price tag. They're the most comfortable shoe I think I own. And they're rad. Thank you SOUTH WILLARD}

Here's a follow up to a PREVIOUS POST:

Frenz.

If you live in Philly, or have a way to get there, I would recommend going to this:

June 18th - August 29th, 2009

Frenz

Fleisher/Ollman is pleased to announce an exhibition of works selected by Will Oldham, the prolific singer-songwriter who most often records and performs under the moniker Bonnie Prince Billy. Frenz, on view June 18 through the end of the summer, will include the work of artists: Shary Boyle, Able Brown, Lori Damiano, Kyle Field, Jill Gallenstein, Sammy Harkham, Alan Licht, Ashley Macomber, Joanne Oldham, Leslie Shows and Spencer Sweeney.

FLEISHER/OLLMAN.

FVCK YOU INTERNET. FVCK YOU DORKS.

I either have some kind of worm/virus on my computer (that would be awesome), or someone hacked my shit. A few weeks ago someone ordered a bunch of shit using my Amazon account, but not my credit card. And then today some lowly piece of shit used mine and my wifes paypal account to treat themselves to a Megauploud subscription for a year, and then tried to take out $1000 from my credit card. Awesome.

So now we have cancel everything, credit cards, bank accounts, Paypal accounts; the works.

Fuck you dude.

Scream With Me.

Remember THIS and THIS? Well I finally got my copy. A beautiful 12" of Misfits covers. Luckily for you it came with a CD too...

{SHHHHH DON'T TELL}

Last Night.

So last night Pink Mountaintops played at the Mercury Lounge, and we went along having already seen them the night before at The Bellhouse in Brooklyn. We wanted to give them another chance, as to be honest they weren't that great the first time around - which is a bummer when they're one of your favourite bands- and the sound was terrible. Turns out they have their own sound person with them, and guess what? Last night was even worse. We actually left. Only a few songs in. Major Bummer. It would seems Stephen McBean was pretty bummed about the whole thing too... he definitely didn't look stoked on how the tour was going...

Anyway the saving grace/highlight of the evening was seeing ADAM's band FAMILY BAND play before them. They're really fucking great, and I highly recommend tracking down either their old EP, or the new one they're just about set to record when it comes out. The photos above are from the show.

Infinite Light

So LIGHTNING DUST have a new album on the way. Which is awesome. And here's the first song to materialize from it. Perfect timing as we're off the see PINK MOUNTAINTOPS tonight. In the rain.

May I suggest going to see them HERE instead tomorrow night? Then you can see Adam and THE FAMILY BAND too.

Credit Where Due.

{Haw-Lin}

Thanks to THIS PERSON, by way of THIS PERSON, I found THIS PERSON.

No idea who does this site, but it's rad for a daily poke around. Inspiration blogs are the new... um something. This one's kinda like JJJJound in content I guess, only it gets updated a bit more frequently, and has a more random layout.
